Sula Sgier is a small island about 40 miles (64km) north of Ness on Lewis SNH said: "We recognise the importance and cultural significance of the guga hunt. It is no more than 150m wide, but has 75m seacliffs. A true Atlantic outliner- Sula Sgeir is one of the UK’s most remote islands. The guga hunt takes place on the island of Sula Sgeir, 40 miles north of Lewis, in the harsh and unforgiving seas of the North Atlantic.
