Ten days later, he raced from ninth to the lead at Hartford Speedway in Michigan, but finished second. His fifth season on the road with the World of Outlaws continued his climb on the national scene. In the season opener, he led 21 laps of the 30-lap A-Feature before finishing second. A podium finish in Las Vegas was the first of many big nights in 2017. A second-place finish at Volusia Speedway Park was the best of five races with the All-Star Circuit of Champions during Speedweeks before his 2019 WoO campaign began.
