My first order was for a book that included some B&W images that were neutral or warm on my screen, but looked very cool (too blue) in the book. If you choose the layout first, the page may look nice but the photograph will be imported to fill the container. BookWright has a helpful icon that lets you know when you’ve made a page that may not print properly. }); Anyway to cut a very long a frustrating saga short I eventually found the download page for Booksmart through a Google search rather than on the Blurb website, installed it and was able to upload the yearbook which you can see by clicking on the link below. Custom layouts can be deleted outside the programm in folder called "MyLayouts", I totally agree with these comments as I have attempted to create a book with BookWright and became very frustrated it is no where near as intuitive or as user friendly as BookSmart. As for the cover problem all I did was go to the icon in the top left hand corner of the program called Covers and clicked on this and that seemed to work. I have a book organized and ready for production. In the end, even though BookWright is very easy to use….I still think I prefer BookSmart when it comes to Blurb’s free software programs. 1) I create the book cover and first 10-20 pgs in Booksmart. However, my book was printed var AFFWP = AFFWP || {}; I did give BookWright a try when it first came out but it seemed to have some annoying quirks that made it painful to use and although some aspects of layout in BookSmart are quite tedious I found using it a less painful experience. It is a while since I moved over to bookwright so I have got used to its idiosyncratic style and workflows. I am just about to start a new large book (I do a "Family Yearbook" of sorts, every year).

This is not as easy in BookWright. So when it comes to giving a recommendation….I have a hard time telling you to use one versus the other. You have to love it when a trusted and reliable company throws a complete spanner in the works for the sake of progress. I can't help with specific advice because I use Blurb's Booksmart application rather than BookWright. While you can’t create custom layouts in Bookify or the Lightroom Book Module, Blurb’s free downloadable programs offer the ability to design custom layouts to fit your photos.

It does include some interesting features, like shapes and ruler, but lost some features like 'find and replace' which is a saviour if I find I've misspelt a name. Despite a couple of quirks, we think it's a camera that photographers and non-photographers alike will find fun to use. I logged onto the Blurb site and clicked on the download software button without giving it much thought. Adobe camera raw where is it in PS file system. I have both book smart and book wright, but unfortunately booksmart doesn’t have the option for Magazines. There must be something different about the printing process. I completely agree with your comments about the poor nature of BookWright and I can add some more e.g. error messages. Should be scrapped. Infrared Conversion: 4/3 micro vs. They look great. I was shocked at how hard it is in BW to place an image on a page in its own aspect ratio. In the meantime you may want to disable sleep mode on your computer to prevent this from occurring or try using our latest book creation tool BookWright, as we are no longer devoting resources towards improvements to the BookSmart software. BookSmart has a grid in the background when you design your own layouts. The blog slurping function has been removed from Booksmart and does not work properly in Bookwright. What is really worrying is that Blurb really does think that Bookwright is the way forward and I suspect that if you are coming at this a new it is. I don't remember exactly what it was. Changing these two issues would likely do more to promote your new BookWright tool than anything else. I have trouble getting BookWright even to launch. I don't remember the software too well (it may be different now) but I wasn't thrilled with the quality then - thin pages and I thought the photos seemed a little grainy. Cost me about 75 bucks.
